Gujarat took a major stride in advanced cancer care with the inauguration of the expanded HCG Aastha Cancer Centre in Ahmedabad by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel on April 19. Now the largest private cancer care facility in the state, the centre marks a significant milestone in delivering world-class, accessible, and technology-driven oncology services.
Located opposite Bhagwat Vidyapith, Sola, the revamped centre features a 217-bed capacity—a 140% increase—designed to handle growing demand with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The new facility boasts:

It is now geared to accommodate over 55,000 outpatient visits and 9,000 inpatient admissions annually, backed by a multidisciplinary team of 100+ in-house doctors across surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, diagnostics, and paediatric haemato-oncology.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised HCG’s efforts and said:

Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman, HCG, added:
“This expansion is not just about infrastructure—it reflects our unwavering mission to make high-quality cancer care accessible to all. Our focus on genomics, proteomics, and precision medicine ensures better outcomes, even in complex and recurrent cases.”
Raj Gore, CEO, HCG Enterprises, emphasized the facility’s alignment with HCG’s vision to make cutting-edge, quality-driven oncology care more reachable, saying:
“With robotic-assisted surgeries and integrated modalities, we aim to raise the bar in cancer treatment across the region.”
Dr. Bharat Gadhavi, Regional Director, noted that the centre builds on HCG’s existing presence in Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Vadodara, becoming a hub for complex case management with a holistic approach.
Mr. Sudharshan Bhamare, COO, highlighted the centre’s patient-focused upgrades—reduced wait times, greater comfort, and efficient handling of advanced cases.
Technological Firsts and Holistic Care
The upgraded centre introduces:
- Robotic surgeries for GI, uro, and gynae cancers
- Gujarat’s first Tomo Therapy unit
- Scalp cooling technology to reduce chemotherapy-related hair loss
Beyond clinical services, the facility expands patient support with genetic counselling, home and palliative care, international patient assistance, and peer-led survivor groups, in collaboration with the HCG Foundation and Ahmedabad Cancer Foundation.
This landmark development not only strengthens HCG’s leadership in oncology but sets a new benchmark in precision, compassion, and innovation in cancer care—bringing hope and healing to patients across Gujarat and beyond.
