Rajesh Power Services Bags ₹472 Crore MGVCL Order! Shares Jump Nearly 8%

Rajesh Power Services has secured major turnkey contracts worth ₹471.92 crore from Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited, marking another important development in the company’s power infrastructure business.

The announcement on October 12, 2026, attracted investor attention as the new orders pushed the company’s aggregate order book closer to ₹4,000 crore.

The contracts will involve strengthening electricity distribution infrastructure across Gujarat. The projects are scheduled to be executed over 18 months, providing additional business visibility.

The order value of ₹471.92 crore includes applicable taxes. This distinction matters because the entire contract amount should not be treated as future accounting revenue.

The latest contracts were awarded by Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited, commonly known as MGVCL, which operates electricity distribution networks in Gujarat.

Under the agreement, Rajesh Power will undertake the conversion of existing 11-kilovolt overhead electricity lines into medium-voltage covered conductor networks.

The company will also develop underground electricity cable networks at various locations. These activities form part of MGVCL’s SI Scheme Robust-III.

Covered conductors provide additional insulation compared with conventional bare overhead conductors. Their use can help reduce certain electrical faults and improve network reliability.

Underground cable networks can also support distribution modernisation, particularly in locations where overhead electricity infrastructure faces space constraints or environmental exposure.

For Rajesh Power, the contracts are commercially significant because they involve specialised engineering, procurement, and construction activities within its established business segment.

The company operates in the power transmission and distribution infrastructure sector, providing services ranging from project engineering and procurement to installation, testing, and commissioning.

The new orders add more than 10% to the company’s order book. This represents a meaningful increase in contracted project activity from a single announcement.

Following the latest contracts, Rajesh Power’s aggregate order book is approaching ₹4,000 crore, according to the company’s announcement.

A large order book can provide visibility into potential future business activity. However, it does not represent revenue already recognised or profit already earned.

Revenue from these contracts will depend on project execution, contractual milestones, billing arrangements, and applicable accounting policies.

The 18-month execution period is another important factor. It indicates that the projects are expected to contribute through multiple reporting periods rather than being completed immediately.

For investors, the pace of project execution will be important because delayed implementation can affect revenue recognition, working capital requirements, and profitability.

Turnkey infrastructure contracts generally require coordination across procurement, engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning activities.

Successful execution depends on timely material availability, efficient project management, skilled personnel, and adherence to contractual quality and safety requirements.

Rajesh Power’s management has highlighted disciplined execution, operational efficiency, and project quality as priorities while undertaking these contracts.

The latest announcement also strengthens the company’s presence in Gujarat’s electricity distribution infrastructure market, where it has previously secured projects.

This experience may support execution efficiency, although each contract carries its own technical requirements, schedules, and commercial conditions.

The broader electricity distribution sector continues to offer opportunities linked to network modernisation, reliability improvements, and infrastructure investment.

However, the availability of future opportunities does not guarantee that Rajesh Power will secure additional contracts. Competitive bidding and project economics remain important considerations.

The stock market reacted positively to the announcement. On October 12, Rajesh Power shares reached an intraday high of ₹789, approximately 7.66% above their previous closing price of ₹732.85.

The intraday movement reflected strong market interest following the order announcement.

However, an intraday price increase should not be confused with a confirmed closing gain or sustained earnings improvement.

One important consideration is profitability. The company has disclosed the contract value, but the specific operating margin expected from these projects has not been established.

Working capital management will also be important because infrastructure projects can require spending on equipment, materials, and execution before corresponding payments are collected.

Investors should therefore evaluate future financial results alongside order-book growth, particularly operating margins, receivables, cash flow, and the pace of contract completion.

The key takeaway is that Rajesh Power has secured ₹471.92 crore in new business and strengthened its project pipeline to nearly ₹4,000 crore.

The long-term financial impact will depend on timely execution, disciplined costs, and successful conversion of orders into revenue and cash flow.
