Dynamic Cables Q2 FY27 Results: Revenue Rises 29%, But Why Is Profit Growth Slower?
Dynamic Cables has reported a strong increase in revenue for the second quarter of FY27, but its profitability tells a more complicated story. The company’s sales expanded 29% year-on-year, while net profit grew at a considerably slower 12.8%.
For the September 2026 quarter, standalone revenue reached ₹363.19 crore compared with ₹281.56 crore a year earlier. Net profit increased to ₹22.15 crore from ₹19.64 crore, reflecting healthy demand but pressure on earnings conversion.
The results highlight an interesting contrast in the company’s performance. Dynamic Cables is selling significantly more products, yet a smaller proportion of that additional revenue is reaching its bottom line.
Sequential performance reinforces this concern. Revenue increased approximately 4% from ₹349.10 crore in Q1 FY27, while net profit declined 11.2% from ₹24.95 crore.
The company manufactures power cables and conductors used in electricity distribution, infrastructure and industrial applications. Its business is closely connected to investments in power networks and India’s expanding electricity infrastructure.
Demand from government and private-sector customers supported business growth during the quarter. This reflects continuing investment in electricity distribution systems, renewable energy connectivity and other power infrastructure projects.
However, operating profitability did not keep pace with revenue growth. The company’s operating margin was approximately 10%, compared with around 11% in the corresponding quarter last year.
This margin compression is significant because cable manufacturing is sensitive to fluctuations in raw-material prices. Copper and aluminium account for an important portion of production costs, making procurement and pricing discipline essential.
The company’s finance costs also increased to approximately ₹4.2 crore from ₹2.9 crore a year earlier. Higher borrowing expenses reduced the benefit of stronger sales and contributed to slower profit growth.
Profit before tax increased 12.7% year-on-year to ₹29.68 crore but declined from ₹33.46 crore in the preceding quarter. The sequential decline indicates that higher revenue alone was insufficient to maintain the previous quarter’s profitability.
Earnings per share stood at ₹4.57, compared with ₹4.05 a year earlier and ₹5.15 in Q1 FY27. These figures confirm that shareholders benefited from annual earnings growth, although momentum weakened sequentially.
Beyond the quarterly profit numbers, the company’s order book offers a more encouraging perspective. Dynamic Cables reported outstanding orders worth approximately ₹829 crore, providing visibility into potential future business.
The order book is more than twice the latest quarterly revenue, although orders are executed over different periods. Its conversion into actual sales will depend on customer schedules, project execution and manufacturing availability.
The company has also expanded its production infrastructure. Management indicated that machinery installation at its newly established manufacturing facility has been completed, with contributions expected during the second half of FY27.
This expansion could become an important growth driver if demand remains strong. Additional manufacturing capacity allows the company to accept larger orders, but its financial contribution depends on how quickly utilisation improves.
Managing Director Ashish Mangal highlighted continued growth momentum supported by favourable conditions in domestic and export markets. Management expects the new manufacturing facility to contribute as the financial year progresses.
Export sales reached approximately ₹56 crore during the first half of FY27. International business provides another avenue for growth, although export profitability can be influenced by competition, logistics and currency movements.
The broader half-year performance is stronger than the latest quarter’s profit growth suggests. Revenue for H1 FY27 increased approximately 31% to ₹712.29 crore, reflecting sustained expansion across the first six months.
Half-year net profit reached approximately ₹47.11 crore, representing growth of around 24% year-on-year. This suggests the company remains on a growth trajectory despite the second quarter’s margin pressure.
Working-capital management will be another important factor. Dynamic Cables reported receivable days of approximately 59, making timely collection from customers essential as sales volumes increase.
Net debt declined to approximately ₹81.8 crore at the end of September from ₹88.7 crore at the end of June. This reduction is encouraging, particularly when financing costs have increased year-on-year.
India’s power infrastructure spending creates opportunities for cable manufacturers, including Dynamic Cables and larger competitors such as Polycab India and KEI Industries. However, differences in product mix, scale and distribution make direct margin comparisons imperfect.
The company must also navigate competitive pricing, raw-material volatility and project execution delays. A strong order book provides demand visibility but does not guarantee that every order will deliver the same profitability.
Valuation becomes particularly important when revenue growth outpaces earnings growth. Investors need to consider whether the company’s market valuation adequately reflects both its expansion opportunities and the risks associated with thinner margins.
The coming quarters will test whether new capacity can translate into higher production, improved operating leverage and stronger profits. Order execution, raw-material costs, receivables and financing expenses deserve close attention.
Dynamic Cables Q2 FY27 results demonstrate robust demand and meaningful business expansion, supported by an ₹829 crore order book.
The opportunity is visible, but sustained margin improvement and efficient execution will determine whether revenue growth translates into stronger shareholder earnings.
