RR Kabel FY27 Growth Outlook: 20% Revenue Target Maintained, ₹200 Crore Rajasthan Expansion Planned
RR Kabel has announced an important manufacturing expansion alongside its Q2 FY27 financial results, reinforcing its long-term ambitions in India’s wires, cables and consumer electricals industry. The company plans to acquire land worth approximately ₹200 crore in Rajasthan while maintaining its broader revenue growth outlook.
Management reiterated its ambition of approximately 20% revenue growth for FY27, supported by domestic infrastructure demand, industrial investment and export opportunities. However, it also revised its wires and cables volume growth guidance to 14–15% from the earlier 16–18%, highlighting a distinction between revenue growth and underlying shipment volumes.
RR Kabel delivered consolidated revenue from operations of ₹3,284 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹2,164 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. This represented approximately 52% year-on-year growth, reflecting strong performance across its principal electrical products business.
Sequentially, revenue increased approximately 4% from ₹3,168 crore in Q1 FY27. The relatively modest quarterly increase compared with annual growth indicates that investors should evaluate both volume trends and commodity-driven pricing effects.
Profitability strengthened considerably during the September quarter. Consolidated profit after tax increased approximately 55% year-on-year to ₹181 crore, compared with ₹116 crore in Q2 FY26, demonstrating improved earnings performance.
Operating EBITDA reached approximately ₹286 crore, registering 63% year-on-year growth. The EBITDA margin expanded to 8.7% from 8.1% a year earlier, reflecting improved operating efficiency and stronger business performance.
However, sequential profitability presented a more mixed picture. Net profit declined approximately 12% from ₹205 crore in Q1 FY27, while operating EBITDA remained broadly unchanged, suggesting that quarterly earnings momentum was less pronounced than the annual comparison.
The wires and cables segment continued to drive the company’s growth. Segment revenue increased approximately 53% year-on-year to ₹3,010 crore, supported by domestic demand, international sales and the company’s established distribution network.
Exports remained an important contributor, with international business accounting for approximately 32–35% of revenue. Management indicated that export growth exceeded domestic growth during the quarter, with Europe and the Middle East remaining significant markets.
The company’s Rajasthan expansion represents a strategic investment in future manufacturing capacity. Management approved approximately ₹200 crore for land acquisition, creating an opportunity to support additional production facilities as demand develops.
Importantly, the Rajasthan land investment is separate from the company’s previously indicated FY27 capital expenditure programme of ₹550–600 crore. Including the land acquisition, total planned expenditure could reach approximately ₹700–800 crore during the financial year.
Higher capital expenditure could strengthen RR Kabel’s long-term manufacturing capabilities, but investors should monitor implementation timelines, financing requirements and utilisation levels. The commercial benefits will depend on how efficiently additional capacity is commissioned and converted into revenue.
The fast-moving electrical goods business remains another important area of focus. This segment includes consumer electrical products where competition, brand positioning, distribution reach and pricing discipline influence operating performance.
Management expects the FMEG business to improve from Q3 FY27 and continues targeting full-year breakeven at the EBIT level. However, the segment remained loss-making during Q2, meaning the anticipated turnaround still requires successful execution.
Achieving FMEG profitability could improve consolidated margins and reduce the financial drag from newer product categories. Nevertheless, sustained profitability will depend on sales growth, product mix, operating costs and competitive conditions.
RR Kabel’s first-half performance provides additional context. Revenue reached approximately ₹6,452 crore in H1 FY27, increasing 53% year-on-year, while operating EBITDA rose 79% to approximately ₹571 crore.
First-half profit after tax increased approximately 87% to ₹386 crore. These figures represent the company’s highest reported half-year revenue, operating EBITDA and profit, highlighting substantial growth compared with the previous year.
Working capital management remains important as the company expands. Management reported a net working capital cycle of approximately 46 days and continues targeting 45–50 days, indicating its focus on balancing growth with operating efficiency.
Competition remains intense across the electrical equipment industry. Companies such as Polycab India, KEI Industries, Havells India and Finolex Cables compete across overlapping product categories, making distribution strength, product quality and manufacturing efficiency important differentiators.
From a valuation perspective, investors should compare RR Kabel’s earnings growth, operating margins and capital expenditure requirements with those of established peers. Strong historical growth alone does not determine whether a stock’s prevailing market valuation is attractive.
Upcoming triggers include progress on the Rajasthan land acquisition, FMEG profitability, export demand and the company’s ability to deliver revised volume growth guidance. Commodity price movements and changes in infrastructure spending could also influence future performance.
RR Kabel’s latest developments indicate a business pursuing manufacturing expansion while improving profitability across its core operations. However, softer volume guidance, FMEG execution risks and rising capital expenditure commitments make cash generation, margin sustainability and disciplined expansion essential factors for investors to monitor.
