Nifty 50 Tuesday Analysis: Can Positive Momentum Continue After Monday’s Strong Session?

Indian equity markets enter Tuesday, November 3, 2026, following a strong opening session to the week. The Nifty 50 gained nearly 388 points on Monday, bringing renewed attention to market momentum, technical levels and the sustainability of the recent recovery.

The Nifty 50 closed at 23,440.80, advancing 387.70 points or 1.68%. The BSE Sensex climbed 1,233.25 points to finish at 75,692.78, reflecting a broad improvement in investor sentiment.

Monday’s advance extended the benchmarks’ winning streak to three consecutive sessions. The recovery followed a period of market volatility, with investors reassessing corporate earnings, global developments and domestic valuations.

Reliance Industries played a major role in the rally after reporting stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings. Its shares surged approximately 11.6%, providing substantial support to the Nifty and contributing significantly to the benchmark’s gains.

The improvement was not limited to one heavyweight company. Several major sectors participated in the advance, although information technology and some defensive segments experienced comparatively weaker performance.

Broader markets also registered gains, with the Nifty Midcap 100 advancing approximately 1.19%. The Nifty Smallcap 100 increased around 0.71%, indicating that positive sentiment extended beyond large-cap stocks.

One important external development was the moderation in international crude oil prices. Brent crude retreated toward $105 per barrel from recent highs near $118, easing some immediate concerns about India’s energy import costs.

Lower crude prices can help reduce pressure on inflation, corporate margins and India’s external balances. However, the durability of this relief depends on geopolitical developments and the stability of global energy supplies.

Reports concerning possible changes to long-term capital gains taxation also attracted investor attention. SEBI reportedly recommended removing the tax for certain foreign portfolio investors as part of its pre-budget discussions.

That recommendation remains a proposal rather than an approved policy change. Its potential implications for foreign investment flows will depend on whether the Finance Ministry adopts the measure and the conditions attached to any exemption.

From a technical perspective, Monday’s session marked a significant improvement in the Nifty’s short-term chart structure. The index moved above the 23,200 region, which had previously attracted attention as an area of overhead resistance.

The daily chart formed a strong positive candle following a gap-up opening. Technical analysts interpreted the movement as evidence of improving momentum, although a single session cannot establish that the broader market recovery will continue.

The 23,200–23,250 region is now an important area for market observation. Traders and analysts will assess how the index behaves around this band if prices retreat during Tuesday’s session.

A move below that area would not automatically establish a new downward trend. Its significance would depend on trading volumes, market breadth, subsequent price action and developments across major index constituents.

On the higher side, the 23,600 region has emerged as a technical reference point in published market commentary. It represents an area where analysts may examine whether upward momentum encounters additional selling pressure.

These chart levels should be understood as analytical reference points rather than guaranteed outcomes. Technical conditions can change rapidly, particularly when markets respond to unexpected economic or geopolitical developments.

Banking stocks will also be important to monitor because of their substantial weight in the benchmark indices. The Bank Nifty closed around 55,002 on Monday, recording a more modest percentage gain than the Nifty 50.

The difference between the two indices suggests that market participation was uneven despite the broader rally. A sustained improvement across banking and other heavyweight sectors could provide additional evidence about the strength of market sentiment.

Global market developments remain another important consideration for Tuesday. Movements in US equities, Treasury yields, the dollar and international crude prices can influence risk appetite toward Indian assets.

Foreign and domestic institutional investment activity will also attract attention. Changes in institutional flows can influence market liquidity, although daily buying or selling figures should not be treated as reliable indicators of future index direction.

Investors should distinguish the recent improvement in market momentum from the longer-term challenges facing equities. Corporate earnings, valuations, global interest rates, geopolitical uncertainty and currency movements remain relevant risks.

Tuesday’s session will therefore provide another opportunity to assess the market’s recovery. The key considerations are whether broader participation continues, how the Nifty behaves around widely monitored technical levels and whether supportive global conditions persist.
