LG Electronics Q2 FY27 Results Analysis: Revenue, Profitability and Consumer Appliance Demand
LG Electronics India delivered a strong Q2 FY27 performance, with net profit rising nearly 26% and revenue growing 19.5%. The results also brought a significant strategic announcement as the company approved its entry into the vehicle solutions business.
Revenue from operations reached ₹7,380 crore, compared with ₹6,174 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The increase reflected demand across home appliances and entertainment products, supported by growth in both mass market and premium categories.
The revenue performance exceeded the CNBC TV18 poll estimate of ₹7,069 crore by approximately ₹311 crore. This positive surprise indicated that sales momentum was stronger than the market expectations captured in that survey.
Net profit increased 25.7% year on year to ₹489 crore from ₹389 crore. Profitability grew faster than revenue, reflecting the benefits of operating leverage and an improved product mix.
Net profit also came in slightly above the CNBC TV18 poll estimate of ₹486 crore. Although the earnings beat was modest, the combination of stronger revenue and higher profitability provided a positive signal about underlying business performance.
EBITDA increased approximately 28% to ₹701 crore from ₹548 crore a year earlier. The faster growth in operating earnings compared with sales suggested that the company was generating better profitability from its revenue base.
The EBITDA margin improved to 9.5% from 8.9%, an expansion of approximately 63 basis points. This improvement came despite pressure from commodity prices, currency movements and spending to support market expansion.
However, sequential performance presented a different picture. Revenue increased around 2% from the previous quarter, while EBITDA declined from approximately ₹904 crore and the operating margin narrowed from 12.5%.
Net profit also declined approximately 25% quarter on quarter from ₹653 crore. The contrast between strong annual growth and weaker sequential profitability highlights the importance of considering seasonal demand and quarterly cost movements.
The Home Appliances and Air Solution segment remained the company’s largest business. Segment revenue increased 20.9% year on year to approximately ₹4,772 crore, supported by strong demand across important product categories.
This segment includes refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens and other household appliances. Its performance is particularly important because it contributes the majority of LG Electronics India’s operating revenue.
The Home Entertainment segment also delivered double digit growth, with revenue increasing 17.2% to approximately ₹2,608 crore. The business benefited from demand for televisions and related entertainment products.
LG reported record high offline television market share, indicating that its distribution presence and product portfolio continued to support its competitive position. Maintaining this leadership will remain important as competition intensifies.
The company also highlighted growth across both affordable and premium products. This balanced performance suggests that consumer demand was not restricted to a single price category or customer segment.
Premiumisation remains an important part of LG’s strategy. The company is expanding its portfolio with products such as French Door refrigerators while strengthening its LG Essential range for value conscious consumers.
One of the most significant developments was the approval to enter the Vehicle Solutions Business. This proposed diversification would expand LG Electronics India’s activities into automotive electronics and mobility related solutions.
The move could create opportunities beyond traditional consumer appliances, particularly in business to business markets. However, the financial contribution, investment requirements and execution timeline will determine its eventual significance.
Manufacturing expansion represents another important growth initiative. LG’s Sri City facility is expected to begin compressor manufacturing in Q3 FY27, supporting greater localisation and future production capacity.
The company has also been expanding its export business, entering more than 20 additional countries since its public listing. A broader international presence could help diversify revenue sources and improve manufacturing utilisation over time.
For the first half of FY27, revenue increased 17.5% to approximately ₹14,613 crore, while EBITDA grew 27.9% to ₹1,616 crore. Net profit rose 26.5% to around ₹1,142 crore, reinforcing the strength of the year on year performance.
Management reaffirmed its FY27 objective of mid teen revenue growth and an EBITDA margin in the early double digits. Achieving this outlook will depend on demand, premium product sales, manufacturing efficiencies and control over operating expenses.
For investors tracking LG Electronics India, the key questions concern margin sustainability, the impact of commodity and currency pressures, cash generation and the execution of its new business initiatives. Strong annual earnings growth and diversification opportunities are encouraging, but sequential margin pressure and competitive intensity remain important factors to monitor.
