WABAG Partners with Global Investor Consortium for $100 Million Municipal Water Projects #vatech

VA TECH WABAG (WABAG), a leading Indian multinational in water technology, has signed a non-binding term sheet to establish a Municipal Platform aimed at developing capital projects in the municipal sector. The platform will commit up to $100 million in equity investments over the next 3 to 5 years.

The initiative will be in collaboration with an investor consortium, including Norfund, the Norwegian government’s investment fund focused on sustainable development, along with two other international investors.

WABAG will serve as the technical partner, providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services. The company will also make a minority investment in line with its asset-light strategy.

This partnership aims to advance water infrastructure by combining WABAG’s technical expertise with the financial backing of global investors. The Municipal Platform will focus on sustainable water management solutions, helping municipalities meet rising demand for advanced water treatment technologies.

Commenting on the development, Mr. S. Varadarajan, Whole-time Director & Chief Growth Officer, WABAG, stated:

“This step of signing the term-sheet with strong global partners to establish the Municipal Platform underscores our commitment to addressing global water challenges through cutting-edge technology. This initiative aligns with our asset-light strategy, combining WABAG’s technical excellence with the financial strengths of our collaborators to accelerate impactful and sustainable water solutions.”

WABAG will provide further updates as the partnership progresses toward definitive agreements.
