IOL Chemicals Expands Manufacturing Capacity with New Paracetamol and Clopidogrel Units #iol

IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has announced the successful commencement of Unit-11, a state-of-the-art facility for Paracetamol production, and the expansion of Unit-5 for Clopidogrel Bisulphate manufacturing at its Barnala site. These strategic moves aim to enhance production capabilities and cater to the increasing demand in the pharmaceutical sector.

New Paracetamol Manufacturing Facility (Unit-11)

IOL Chemicals has commissioned Unit-11 with an installed capacity of 10,800 MTPA, significantly boosting its Paracetamol production. The new unit is backed by in-house production of key intermediates, Para Amino Phenol (PAP) and Acetic Anhydride, ensuring a seamless supply chain.

• Existing capacity: 3,600 MTPA
• New capacity addition: 10,800 MTPA
• Total investment: ₹155.51 crore
• Mode of financing: Internal accruals
• Completion date: March 24, 2025

This expansion will strengthen IOL Chemicals’ position as a leading Paracetamol supplier while improving cost efficiencies through backward integration.

Clopidogrel Bisulphate Expansion (Unit-5)

To meet the rising demand for Clopidogrel Bisulphate, a widely used cardiovascular drug, Unit-5’s capacity has been increased from 180 MTPA to 240 MTPA.

• Existing capacity: 180 MTPA
• New capacity addition: 60 MTPA
• Total investment: ₹7.87 crore
• Mode of financing: Internal accruals
• Completion date: March 24, 2025
