WRTL Expands into BESS & Data Centres; Secures Over 566 MWp of New Solar Projects in Q1 FY26
Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited (WRTL), a leading EPC player in the solar energy space, has announced major strategic moves as part of its long-term diversification and growth strategy. In a significant development, the company has formally expanded its business operations beyond solar EPC into the fast-evolving domains of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Data Centre infrastructure.
This pivot reflects WRTL’s vision to become a comprehensive clean energy solutions provider, offering integrated solar, storage, and digital power solutions to support India’s energy transition and the rising demand from energy-intensive industries.
WRTL has already built a 40 MWh BESS EPC order book, and plans to further scale this vertical. The company sees high growth potential in hybrid solar-storage projects and backup systems for mission-critical infrastructure such as commercial buildings, industrial units, and digital data centres. With this expansion, WRTL positions itself to benefit from future tenders in grid-balancing, round-the-clock (RTC) solar power, and integrated energy systems.
In parallel, the company continues to strengthen its solar EPC business. During Q1 FY26, WRTL secured two significant ground-mounted solar project orders:
- A 435 MWp project from a leading renewable energy player
- A 131.6 MWp project, enhancing WRTL’s portfolio in the utility-scale solar segment
Together, these new wins add to WRTL’s already robust EPC order book of 3.15 GWp, which is expected to be executed over the next 12–15 months. The pipeline ensures high revenue visibility and reaffirms WRTL’s position as one of India’s top-performing solar EPC contractors.
These updates come on the back of WRTL’s strong Q1 FY26 performance and recent business milestones, including its 200 MW solar module deal with ACCIONA and a ₹7.98 crore strategic investment in Smart Joules, signaling a broader shift toward building an ecosystem of clean energy offerings.
With policy tailwinds, growing investor interest, and a proven execution record, WRTL’s strategic pivot toward BESS and data centre solutions sets the stage for its next phase of accelerated and diversified growth.
