Shadowfax Q2 FY27 Results: Profit Surges 422%, But Can This Growth Continue?

Shadowfax Technologies delivered an impressive performance in the second quarter of FY27, reporting strong revenue growth, sharply higher profitability and expanding operating margins. The results highlighted the company’s growing presence in India’s e-commerce and technology-driven logistics industry.

Revenue from operations increased 56.6% year-on-year to ₹1,537.70 crore, compared with ₹982.11 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. This marked the company’s sixth consecutive quarter of revenue growth exceeding 55%, demonstrating sustained business expansion.

Sequentially, revenue increased 13.2% from ₹1,358.12 crore in Q1 FY27. The acceleration reflected rising shipment volumes and continued demand for express parcel and hyperlocal delivery services across India’s expanding digital commerce ecosystem.

The biggest highlight was the extraordinary increase in profitability. Consolidated net profit surged approximately 422% year-on-year to ₹67.95 crore, compared with ₹13.02 crore in Q2 FY26, significantly outpacing revenue growth.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit increased approximately 3.9% from ₹65.4 crore. Although sequential profit growth was considerably slower than the annual increase, the company maintained its improved profitability while expanding operations.

Operating performance strengthened substantially during the quarter. Reported EBITDA reached approximately ₹104 crore, increasing 165% year-on-year, while the EBITDA margin improved to approximately 6.7%.

Adjusted EBITDA increased 177% year-on-year to ₹77 crore, compared with approximately ₹28 crore in the previous year’s corresponding quarter. The adjusted EBITDA margin reached 5%, representing an improvement of approximately 218 basis points.

The expansion in profitability indicates improving operating leverage. As shipment volumes increase, Shadowfax can distribute certain infrastructure, technology and administrative costs across a larger revenue base, potentially improving unit economics.

Shipment volumes provided another encouraging indicator. Shadowfax handled approximately 27.1 crore orders during the quarter, representing 69.7% year-on-year growth and 9.8% sequential expansion.

Express parcel deliveries remained the company’s largest business segment. Revenue from this segment increased 55.2% year-on-year to approximately ₹1,096 crore, supported by expanding e-commerce activity and growing demand for faster deliveries.

The hyperlocal logistics business recorded particularly strong momentum. Segment revenue surged 87.7% year-on-year to approximately ₹341 crore, while sequential growth reached 25.7%, reflecting expanding demand from quick-commerce and local delivery platforms.

Shadowfax’s growing presence in quick commerce is strategically important. Frequent inventory replenishment, rapid delivery requirements and geographically distributed fulfilment networks create opportunities for logistics providers capable of operating efficiently at scale.

The company also reported increasing participation from direct-to-consumer brands and small businesses. These customers can support a more diversified revenue mix, although their delivery requirements and service expectations may differ from those of large e-commerce platforms.

Technology remains a central part of Shadowfax’s operating strategy. The company highlighted its AI-led network optimisation system, designed to improve routing decisions, capacity allocation and logistics efficiency across its nationwide delivery infrastructure.

Management also outlined investments in automation and fulfilment capabilities. Plans include commissioning additional sorting equipment and expanding micro-fulfilment infrastructure, which could improve delivery speed and network productivity over time.

Co-founder and CEO Abhishek Bansal highlighted the company’s revenue milestone, improving adjusted EBITDA margin and focus on faster delivery services. Management’s strategy emphasises operational speed, network density and technology-led execution rather than competing entirely on pricing.

The balance sheet remained relatively strong, with approximately ₹1,562 crore in cash and bank balances at September 30, 2026, and no reported borrowings. This provides financial flexibility for technology investment, automation and network expansion.

However, investors should distinguish accounting profitability from cash generation. Capital expenditure, working-capital requirements and the timing of customer collections will remain important indicators of the company’s ability to finance future growth efficiently.

Competition in Indian logistics remains intense. Established operators such as Delhivery and other express delivery providers compete for e-commerce volumes, making service reliability, delivery speed, geographic reach and pricing important differentiators.

Shadowfax’s valuation also deserves attention following its rapid expansion. Investors need to compare its market capitalisation and earnings multiples with relevant logistics peers while considering differences in growth rates, profitability and business models.

The upcoming festive quarter represents an important business trigger. With major online sales activity shifting into Q3 FY27, higher shipment volumes could test the company’s network capacity while creating opportunities for additional operating leverage.

Despite the strong results, several risks remain. Customer concentration, pricing competition, delivery workforce costs, automation expenditure and fluctuations in e-commerce demand could influence future margins. The next earnings report will help establish whether the current profitability improvement is sustainable.
