Tata Elxsi Q2 FY27 Results: Revenue Jumps 15%! Is the Stock Ready for a Comeback?

Tata Elxsi has reported a strong increase in revenue for the second quarter of FY26–27, supported by growth across its transportation, media and communications, and healthcare businesses.
The company announced its financial results on October 13, 2026, reporting operating revenue of ₹1,055.7 crore for the quarter ended September 30.
Revenue increased 15% year-on-year and 3.4% compared with the preceding quarter, demonstrating continued business expansion.
The results are particularly important because Tata Elxsi operates in engineering research and development, a sector closely linked to global technology investment and product innovation.
The company reported a net profit of approximately ₹170.3 crore, representing growth of around 10% compared with the same quarter last year.
However, profit growth remained below revenue growth, highlighting the importance of monitoring operating expenses and profitability.
Sequentially, net profit was almost unchanged from the previous quarter, when the company reported approximately ₹170.6 crore.
Tata Elxsi’s EBITDA reached ₹231.4 crore, increasing 7.1% quarter-on-quarter. Its EBITDA margin improved to 21.9%, supported by operational efficiencies and better execution across business divisions.
The improvement was achieved despite salary revisions implemented across the company’s workforce during the quarter.
Transportation remained the company’s largest technology services vertical and an important contributor to its overall performance.
The transportation business recorded constant-currency revenue growth of 2% compared with the previous quarter.
The segment accounts for more than 55% of Tata Elxsi’s software development and services business.
One of the quarter’s significant developments was a strategic multi-year contract with a leading automotive manufacturer.
The agreement involves developing a next-generation cloud-based telematics and connected-vehicle ecosystem.
Connected-vehicle technology enables automobiles to communicate with digital platforms, supporting functions such as diagnostics, navigation, software updates and vehicle monitoring.
Tata Elxsi’s expertise in software-defined vehicles positions the company to participate in the automotive industry’s transition toward increasingly connected and intelligent mobility.
The company also highlighted growing opportunities in aerospace engineering and adjacent transportation technologies.
Its collaboration with Sarla Aviation supports the development of Shunya, an indigenous electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
Beyond transportation, Tata Elxsi’s media and communications business delivered sequential constant-currency growth of 3.4%.
This division accounted for approximately 33.6% of the company’s software development and services revenue.
Growth was supported by the expansion of existing customer engagements and new project wins.
The company also secured an artificial intelligence project involving a generative AI-powered virtual assistant for a global technology customer.
The project focuses on multilingual intelligence and digital experiences, reflecting growing interest in enterprise AI applications.
Tata Elxsi’s healthcare and life sciences division recorded sequential constant-currency growth of 3.5%.
The company secured a product engineering engagement involving the redesign of a next-generation home dialysis system.
This project includes user-experience design, mechanical engineering, electronics, embedded software and regulatory compliance.
Tata Elxsi also continued expanding its AI capabilities through investments and partnerships, including its relationship with KAVIA AI.
These initiatives are intended to strengthen the company’s capabilities in AI-assisted engineering and complex software development.
Nevertheless, the company continues to face challenges associated with global technology spending, automotive industry investment cycles and competition in engineering services.
Investors will closely monitor whether stronger revenue growth translates into sustained margin improvement and faster profit expansion.
Overall, Tata Elxsi’s Q2 FY27 performance demonstrates improving business momentum, supported by connected-vehicle engineering, AI solutions and healthcare technology.
Its future performance will depend on successful project execution, customer demand and the company’s ability to convert growing revenue into stronger profitability.
