Kajaria Ceramics Q2 FY27 Results: What Investors Should Watch Beyond the Profit Surge?

Kajaria Ceramics has delivered a strong second quarter for FY27, with consolidated profit rising nearly 43% year-on-year. But the most important development may not be the profit figure itself.

The company is selling more tiles, securing better prices and expanding its operating margins at the same time.

For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, consolidated revenue reached ₹1,468.26 crore, compared with ₹1,186.56 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. This represents growth of approximately 23.8%.

Consolidated profit after tax increased to approximately ₹189.5 crore from ₹133 crore a year earlier, reflecting a sharp improvement in profitability.

Operating performance was equally encouraging. EBITDA climbed to approximately ₹286.5 crore from ₹213 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 19.51% from 17.94%.

That margin improvement matters because it suggests Kajaria is benefiting from more than additional sales. Better pricing and operating efficiency are allowing a larger portion of revenue to translate into earnings.

The company reported 10% year-on-year growth in tile sales volumes, reaching 31.81 million square metres compared with 28.87 million square metres in Q2 FY26.

Volume growth provides an important reality check. When revenue increases faster than physical sales, investors need to understand how much of the improvement comes from pricing, product mix and contributions from other businesses.

Kajaria’s management indicated that demand improved during the quarter and that customers responded positively to price increases. Market-share gains also supported volumes.

This combination is particularly significant in the ceramic industry, where competition from manufacturers in Morbi, Gujarat, can place pressure on selling prices.

A branded manufacturer that can increase prices without sacrificing volume may have a stronger competitive position than a business relying primarily on discounts to generate demand.

Kajaria’s core tile business remained the largest revenue contributor, while its sanitaryware, faucets and adhesives operations added another layer of growth.

These adjacent categories deserve attention because they allow Kajaria to serve more of a customer’s home-improvement requirements through its existing distribution relationships.

For the first half of FY27, consolidated revenue reached ₹2,796.34 crore, compared with approximately ₹2,289 crore in the corresponding period last year.

First-half consolidated profit after tax increased to approximately ₹359 crore from ₹242 crore, demonstrating that the earnings improvement extended beyond a single quarter.

The company also announced an interim dividend of ₹12 per equity share for FY27, with October 29, 2026 fixed as the record date.nHowever, the bigger long-term development is taking place in Kajaria’s manufacturing network.

At Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh, the company has increased the planned annual capacity addition for glazed vitrified tiles from 10 million to 12.5 million square metres.

The estimated investment for this project has risen to approximately ₹340 crore, reflecting the larger capacity and associated infrastructure requirements. Completion is targeted for June 2027.

At Gailpur in Rajasthan, Kajaria is progressing with an additional 11 million square metres of annual capacity, with revised estimated expenditure of approximately ₹180 crore.

That project is expected to be completed around April 2027, potentially increasing the company’s ability to serve demand from its own manufacturing facilities.

Kajaria has also approved a tile adhesive manufacturing facility in Durgapur, West Bengal, with planned capacity of 9,000 tonnes per month and estimated investment of ₹34 crore.

The Durgapur project is expected to be completed by December 2027, giving the company another opportunity to expand beyond its traditional tile portfolio.

These investments could improve scale and product availability, but they also introduce execution risks. Construction delays, higher project costs or weaker-than-expected demand could affect future returns.

Another important issue is the export environment. Kajaria noted that elevated freight costs and limited container availability continued to create difficulties for manufacturers in Morbi during the first half.

Export weakness can influence domestic competition. When overseas demand slows, manufacturers may redirect production into India, potentially increasing pricing pressure.

This makes Kajaria’s ability to sustain price increases and protect its market share especially important over the next few quarters.

Investors should also monitor raw-material prices, energy costs and freight expenses. Ceramic manufacturing is energy-intensive, and changes in these costs can quickly influence profitability.

A comparison with competitors such as Somany Ceramics and Asian Granito India can help investors judge whether Kajaria’s improving margins reflect company-specific advantages or a broader industry recovery.

Valuation remains another consideration. Strong earnings growth can support market expectations, but a premium share-price valuation also increases the importance of consistent execution.

The bullish argument is that rising volumes, better pricing, an expanding product portfolio and additional capacity could support earnings growth beyond FY27.

The cautious argument is that tougher competition, elevated capital expenditure and uncertain demand conditions could make the current pace of profit growth difficult to sustain.

Kajaria Ceramics has therefore delivered more than an impressive headline profit increase. Its Q2 FY27 performance offers evidence of stronger demand, improved pricing power and healthier operating profitability.

The key question for investors is whether the company can maintain this combination as new capacity comes online and competition evolves. That will determine whether the latest results mark a lasting improvement in the business or simply an exceptionally strong quarter.
